Stephen Lovely has been the Director of the Iowa Young Writers’ Studio since 2005, and has led over a dozen sessions of the program for more than 1000 students. He attended Kenyon College, where he majored in English, and the Iowa Writers’ Workshop, where he studied fiction writing with Deborah Eisenberg, Margot Livesey, Frank Conroy, and Ethan Canin. His first novel, Irreplaceable, was published by Hyperion/Voice in 2009. He’s currently working on his second novel, which takes place in the online dating industry. He lives in Iowa City with his wife, the photographer Miranda Meyer, and their cats and dogs. The goatee comes and goes.
